Clodomiro Montes Jr., better known as “Puerto Rico, Jr.” was born in Cartagena, Colombia. Montes is a multi-percussionist who specializes in Latin electronica, salsa, pop and Colombian folklore.

Montes comes from a long legacy of musicians. His father and grandfather, both well known percussionists, initiated his career at the age of 12, as he became part of recognizable national groups such as El Nene y sus Traviesos and Joseito Martinez.

In 1993, Clodomiro joined the ensemble, Grupo Jazz Cartagena, which represented Colombia in the 1st jazz festival in Cartagena, Jazz Bajo La Luna, which boasted participation from artists such as Cristian del Real, Justo Almario, Boris Fadul and more.

In the year 2000, Clodomiro relocated to Asia, where he toured for six consecutive years through Thailand, China, Malaysia, India and Taiwan.

In 2006, Clodomiro relocated to Los Angeles, California where he began working with internationally known artists Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, Jose Alberto El Canario, Andy Montañez, Tony Vega, Eddie Santiago, Marisela, The Latin Brothers, Guayacan Orquesta, Justo Almario, Fruko y sus Tesos, Maelo Ruiz, La India and Jerry Rivera. Montes has also collaborated with A.B. Quintanilla's Cumbia Kings, Sonora Carruseles, Tito Rojas, Puerto Rican Power, Grupo Gale, Joe Arroyo, Sonora Ponceña, Caifanes and Stevie Wonder.

Clodomiro is the percussionist for Palenke Soul Tribe, which has performed at festivals like Glastonbury, Womex Budapest and South by Southwest. He is also M. D. of his own salsa band, Colombian Latin Soul. In 2017, he headlined Carnaval de Barranquilla's, Concierto de Carnaval with Carlos Vives and L'équipe Tambora in Barranquilla, Colombia.
